COMMISSIONING A PAINTING
An Original Oil Painting can make a wonderful and treasured gift for friends and family, that will last for generations.
If you've enjoyed the work on this site and you wish to consider having a painting produced to your specifications, whether it is your pet, a favorite animal, or another idea you have mind, I'd be happy to discuss this with you.
-
Your work will be produced using high quality archival oil paints. Though I am not in the framing business, I am able to help you find a high quality, reasonably priced frame appropriate to your needs if you'd like.
-
I will produce work for customers in any location throughout the Continental United States.
-
There aren't set prices for my work due to the many variables required to complete each individual painting. Your price will depend on your personal preferences - whether you wish your work to be background specific or have no background detail at all; one subject or more; and the amount of detail you require. Your price will include postage and packaging costs if necessary ~ I'll deliver the work myself if the customer resides here on Long Island.
-
I usually request a 1/3 deposit before starting your work, with the remaining balance due upon completion, prior to or at time of delivery if local. If other arrangements are to be made, that conversation must take place before any work has begun.
-
You will be kept you up to date with your work-in-progress, via e-mailed scans of the work in it's various stages in order to facilitate alterations, if required.

THE PORTRAIT PROCESS
Initially, I will meet with the clients either my studio or the subject's home, office or other location, to get acquainted and to obtain information needed to complete the commissioned portrait.
During this visit, I spend time getting to know the subject, discussing the details of the portrait, including pose, clothing, setting and the location where the painting with ultimately be displayed.
A digital shoot, where a variety of poses and lighting combinations will be explored - unless it has been previously agreed upon to utilize a suitable (hi-resolution) client-provided photo.
Together, Client and Artist will make final selections that will be used as reference in the creation of the portrait in the studio.
Having a portrait painted is a very special journey for both the Artist and the subject. I strive to create a beautiful painting that not only attains a remarkable likeness but also capture the true spirit of my subjects. My goal is to create an heirloom quality painting that will be treasured by future generations.
This process can take anywhere from 6-12 months, depending on the size and complexity of the painting. The Client will be kept up-to-date with regular scans of the project as it unfolds, via-e-mail.
Thank you for your interest in having your portrait painted.
